About the Founder of Nursing Knowledge is Power
Meljun Perez is a passionate Filipino nurse with a diverse and dynamic background in healthcare. His journey began as a respiratory therapist before transitioning to nursing, driven by his desire to make a greater impact in patient care. He started his nursing career as an ICU nurse, gaining experience across a variety of specialties including med-surg, ER, and OR, and quickly developed a love for teaching. This passion led him to become a professor and clinical instructor at one of the leading nursing schools in his community.
In 2014, Meljun moved to the United States as an agency RN, where he worked as an ER nurse while also serving as an adjunct faculty member at the local College, teaching nursing students. On weekends, he worked as a wound care nurse and supervisor at a local nursing home and rehabilitation center. After completing his agency contract, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a flight nurse with Air Evac, all while continuing his work in the local ER on a PRN basis.
When his family decided to move to a larger city, Meljun further expanded his expertise by working as an ER nurse and pursuing additional training in wound care. His career then took a new direction when he transitioned to oncology and medical-surgical telemetry nursing, while also maintaining his critical care skills in the ICU.
The COVID-19 pandemic marked another turning point in Meljun’s career. In the face of uncertainty and fear, he stepped up as a travel nurse, serving underserved communities and hospitals in dire need. His commitment to healthcare led him to pursue his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) focus, which he completed in 2023, earning both the ACNPC-AG and AGACNP-BC certifications.
Currently, Meljun serves cancer patients as a Malignant Hematology Oncology Nurse Practitioner, but his journey doesn’t stop there. Recognizing the critical need for more mental health professionals, he is now pursuing his second master’s degree, specializing in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Through it all, Meljun remains deeply committed to his faith, believing that God is the ultimate source of his wisdom and strength. His experiences, knowledge, and passion for nursing have inspired him to create Nursing Knowledge Is Power—a platform dedicated to empowering and educating nurses at all levels.
